11-year-old Nicholas Nelson survived after being buried alive for 30 minutes underneath a sand hill.

The Michigan boy was digging in a sandpit with his older brother Kyle when one of the tunnels collapsed on him.

“Me and my brother were digging in a sandpit and it collapsed and my brother is stuck under there now,” Kyle frantically tells the 911 dispatcher.  “I tried to get him out, but I couldn’t dig fast enough.”

While buried, Nicholas started saying his goodbyes in his head, thinking of no one but his family.

“After like a minute I passed out, but I was lucky there was a gap by me,” Nicholas recalled.  “It was really scary.”

When rescuers arrived and finally pulled the boy out, he wasn’t breathing. When Nicholas finally started to come through, he was rushed to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
