Hailey Clauson’s Parents Sue Urban Outfitters Over ‘Salacious’ Photo
With the recent Thylane Blondeau and Jours Apres Lunes (lingerie for kids) controversies, all eyes were on the French. This time though, things are hitting a lot closer to home. Parents of 16 year old model Hailey Clauson are suing for $28 million, as ‘salacious’ pictures of their daughter appeared in apparel sold in Urban Outfitters.
The images were taken in March 2010 when Hailey Clauson was only 15-years-old and
shows her in a provocative pose.
Clauson’s parents are suing four parties, which include Jason Lee Parry (the photographer) and Urban Outfitters, claiming that they were unaware that the pictures were publicized or used in any shirts or apparel.
Not only does the image send the wrong message, it may also be in violation of a few federal and state laws. As the lawsuit reiterates, “The image of a teen in a spread eagle position making her crotch area the focal point of the image may portray a child in a sexually suggestive manner and may be in violation of one or more federal and/or state laws.”
At this point, it’s difficult to say if the parents have a right to sue or if the state should sue the parents.
