A 4-year-old boy from Virginia shot and killed himself in a tragic accident today.

Police received a frantic call this afternoon from a distraught family member who said that the boy shot himself in the head.

The boy allegedly entered a pickup truck on his own and found the unsecured gun. Investigators have confirmed that the fatal wound was indeed accidental and self-inflicted.

“No one else was around him,” explained Officer Jonathan Perok. He also added that witnesses heard the gunshot, before seeing what had happened.

The unnamed boy was rushed to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
