Baby Born in Plane Toilet Named After Emirates Airline
A baby born during an Emirates flight from Dubai to Manila has been dubbed “EK”, after the Emirates Airline code.
Last August 22, A Filipina mom went to the plane bathroom after intense labor pains.
“When I saw the mother walking toward the toilet, she seemed to be in pain. The father was restless… walking back and forth, nearly in tears, so I offered to help,” explained Karen Caballes-Santos, a nurse who was on the same flight.
Santos was then alarmed as she followed the mother into the bathroom and saw a premature newborn inside the toilet. The baby was turning bluish and was born 27 weeks early.
Two nurses on board and four flight attendants helped clean and care for the newborn, providing the child and mother with oxygen masks and using LED reading lamps to keep the baby warm.
The plane was forced to make an emergency landing and the pair were rushed to the hospital. The baby is still in critical condition.
