Bill Clinton Reunited with Ugandan Son, Bill Clinton
When former President Clinton first visited Uganda in 1998, he met a Ugandan baby “Bill Clinton” who was named as such, after he was born the same time as Clinton’s arrival.
Now, 14 years later, the former president reunited with the Ugandan boy, Master Bill Clinton Kaligani.
The meeting was not planned well in advance, as the boy and his family were informed of Clinton’s visit two days before the former president was set to arrive in Uganda. However, with the help of the Bill Clinton Foundation, the teen took his first plane ride in order to meet his namesake in the village of Entebbe, Uganda.
“[Clinton] was very happy to see the boy. He asked him what he wants and the boy informed him he wants to become a doctor. He promised to look after his ‘son’ in every way,” Betty Namugosa, Kaligani’s mother said.
“I feel good. He told me he also wanted me to be a doctor, that I should work hard and pass in my studies,” Kaligani also added.
Clinton was in Uganda for his Health Access Initiative which currently aims to “eliminate diarrheal deaths among Ugandan children.”
