Boy Finds Whale Vomit Worth $63,000
8-year-old Charlie Naysmith from Great Britain has made a whooping find, taking home a piece of rock which turned out to be a $63,000 piece of whale vomit.
The boy was walking along the Hengistbury Head beach when he saw an unusual looking rock. He brought it with him, and later discovered that the “rock” was actually piece of ambergris, also known as sperm whale vomit.
As most of us cringe in disgust, ambergris is actually a rare and expensive find. The sought-after ingredient is popular among perfume-makers who use it to prolong the scent of the perfume. With Charlie’s literally large find, he can receive up to $63,000.
So what is he going to do when he cashes out? Charlie is thinking of using the money to build a shelter for animals.
