Boy Runs on Field, Ejected from Ballpark
A young boy ran across the field in the seventh inning of a Baltimore Orioles – White Sox game.
Luckily, left fielder Dayan Viciedo easily stopped the boy, scooping him up and marching him over to a couple of waiting security guards.
Viciedo later explained that he wanted to grab the boy from fear that he’d be accidentally hit by a ball.
The team later issued a statement:
“Safety is our No. 1 concern and we are happy that the child is fine. Obviously it was a non-issue for Dayan who was able to field the kid cleanly. But going on the field is stuff we do take seriously. It’s not something we condone in any way.”
Unfortunately, the boy and his family were asked to leave the ballpark per MLB rules.
