Celebrity Chef Accused of Poisoning Pregnant Girlfriend to Kill Unborn Child
Popular Los Angeles chef Joshua Woodward has just been charged with attempted murder, after he was accused of poisoning a pregnant girlfriend to induce a miscarriage.
Back in 2009, Woodward allegedly rubbed misoprostol on her, causing her to miscarry at 13 weeks. The unnamed woman told police about the “white powdery substance”, and after investigation, police found traces of the drug on Woodward’s hands.
“Nothing has changed in the last three years except the prosecution’s determination to blame Joshua Woodward for the miscarriage suffered by his girlfriend,” Woodward’s attorney, Mary Weksman explained. “Joshua had nothing to do with the loss of his girlfriend’s baby. And the evidence marshaled against him is so weak and speculative as to be nonexistent.”
The Table 8 owner pleaded not guilty to four counts of attempted murder and is currently on a $4 million bail.
