Crusader Asks for the Removal of Cursing Toddler in Modern Family

January 18, 2012 - By Joni Ricard

The founder of the “No-Cussing Club” has just asked for the removal of this week’s episode of Modern Family where Lily, the 2-year-old toddler uses a bleeped word.

The episode, “Little Bo Bleep” features Lily who shocks her adoptive parents, Mitchell and Cameron when she supposedly issues her first curse word. On set, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, the little actress who plays Lily, says the word “Fudge” which is then bleeped out for the episode.

“Our main goal is to stop this from happening,” the 18-year-old crusader McKay Hatch explains. “If we don’t, at least ABC knows that people all over the world don’t want to have a 2-year-old saying the ‘F-bomb’ on TV.”

Hatch currently attends Brigham Young University and began the “No Cussing Club” as a response to the ubiquitous curses he would hear at school. He is now asking the 35,000 members of this club to issue a complaint to ABC.

ABC has not issued a response back and the show is still set to air on January 18th.

With some of theĀ  more alarming themes and plotlines on TV today, I’m surprised that a censored curse word with a non-sensationalized plotline still makes people frazzled. One could argue that cursing can ultimately lead to bigger issues such as bullying. But bottomline, unless there are specific themes that encourage bad behavior, a cursing Lily is the least of our worries.
