Dad Charged with Assault After Tossing McDonalds Fries at Stepdaughter
26-year-old James Hackett is charged with assault after throwing McDonald’s fries at his 11-year-old stepdaughter.
The family of three stopped by a McDonald’s for some takeout. The couple then proceeded to argue in the car, when the girl interjected “in an attempt to get the two to stop fighting.” In a fit of rage, Hackett allegedly “picked up the container of french fries he had just purchased, which were hot and oily, and threw it at [the girl], striking her in the face and chest area.”
After getting home, Hackett fled on a motorcycle, and his wife called the police who tracked and arrested him.
Hackett is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (aka the french fry). The girl was not harmed, but has indicated that the french fries “could cause burning to the skin and eyes.” Hackett pleaded not guilty and will be appearing in a pretrial conference on August 10.
