Dad Created False Obituary for Son, Who is Alive

After putting out an obituary for his son on the papers, it was later discovered that the 7-year-old was actually alive.
Jason McCoy sent in a false obituary to the Post Independent claiming that his son had died on August 8 at a Denver hospital. He added that a representative from Human Services informed him of his son’s passing, although hospital officials later denied that.
McCoy’s ex-wife, Jennifer Stretch also explained that McCoy has no reason to believe that their son is dead, and he hasn’t visited him in over a month.
“It made me sick to my stomach. It was shocking,” she explained. “It’s frustrating and there’s nothing illegal about having a fake obit. Unfortunately, there’s nothing I can do about it.”
McCoy claims that his actions were innocent, and he truly believed that his son had died. “I am calling everybody I can call, backtracking all over,” McCoy tells reporters. “If he is alive, I would love to see him. I haven’t seen him in a month and a half.”
The child is safe and well, although this matter is currently under investigation.
