10-month-old Valentina Guerrero is now the new model for the 2013 swimsuit collection DC kids, designed by Spanish designer Dolores Cortes. The surprise? Baby Valentina suffers from Down syndrome.

The Miami baby will appear in the US catalog for DC kids. Cortes selected this beautiful baby not only for her gorgeous looks, but to also send a message: all children deserve equal opportunities.

Cortés walked down the runway at last week’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami Beach with Valentina tucked in her arms.

“People with Down syndrome are just as beautiful and deserve the same opportunities,” she explained. “I’m thrilled to have Valentina modeling for us.”

While amazing, Valentina isn’t the first child with Down syndrome to get featured as a model. Earlier this year, Target also featured Ryan, a baby with Down Syndrome as one of their campaign models. The company didn’t issue any press release, and effectively showed the world that Ryan is just like any other child.
