Father Paid Teen $21 to Get Bully Beaten

July 8, 2012 - By Hyacinth Therese

A dad from Shelton, Connecticut has been arrested for paying a teen girl to beat up a younger girl that he accused of bullying his daughter.

Prokop allegedly gave a 17-year-old girl $21 to pick a fight with a 13-year-old girl who he thought was verbally abusing his daughter, 15-year-old Rose Prokop.

Prokop claimed that he is innocent of the charges. Instead, he said that he simply brought his son and daughter to the mall and accosted the alleged bully, asking her to leave his daughter alone.

“It all stems from the kids bullying my daughter to the point she wanted to do harm to herself,” Prokop explained. “I would never do anything to harm anybody or pay anybody to do anything. That’s absurd.”

“The fight that supposedly broke out had nothing to do with me whatsoever,” he also added. “I was actually trying to break the fight in which I was hit from behind.”

Rose also defended her dad and spoke up about the bullying. “It got really bad,” she said. “People would always make comments about me, put me down, look at me differently.”

In fact, one girl wrote on her Facebook page, “I thought the only thing you could spread are your legs.”

The parents of the 13-year old girl were also furious as they recalled the fight. “She was picked up and thrown head first into a car,” said Bill Landan, the teen’s father. “She still struggles with it, she looks over her shoulder.”

“This is especially hurtful knowing an older person, a parent would actually put his hands on somebody else’s child,” Landan also accused.

With the rising bullying epidemic, most recently headlined by the bullied bus monitor, it’s interesting to see people rising up to the occasion. However, it’s also safe to say that revenge bullying is not the right solution either.
