Fed-up Mom Goes on Strike
Jessica Stilwell, mother-of-three from Calgary, Alberta decided to go on strike for six days.
Stilwell who has three girls, 12-year-old twins and a 10-year-old daughter, decided to forget “picking up, tidying, washing, cleaning, clearing, reminding or nagging.”
After being home alone while her husband was away playing golf for the weekend, Stilwell was overwhelmed, as she look at the never-ending mess left behind by her three kids and a foster baby.
Finally, come Monday morning, she came up with an epiphany. “This working mom has officially gone on STRIKE within the home!!! Nothing said, no warning…updates to follow:),” she wrote in her Facebook page.
Without letting her kids know about her strike, Stilwell went about ignoring the growing pile of mess and “stink”. To add to the entertainment, Stilwell also decided to start a blog, ‘Striking Mom’ to chronicle this one week journey.
“If I hadn’t done the blog I wouldn’t have lasted more than a day, maybe two,” Stilwell explained. “I am a real Type A. The mess was making me crazy. The only way I stayed on this was by telling myself ‘that’s going to be funny to write about tonight.’”
