4-Year-Old Fan Cries as Favorite Syracuse Player is Graduating
4-year-old son Shane is in tears after finding out that senior player Scoop Jardine will not be playing ball at Syracuse after this season.
After posting the video and garnering over 90,000 views (one of which was Jardine himself!), Shane got the most unbelievable experience of his 4-year-old life: Jardine invited him to come to the Syracuse campus after their win over Kansas State..on Shane’s birthday!
“He didn’t know what to think,” his mom Barone said. “He knows them as three-inch figures on the television screen, so we get there and they’re 6-foot-7. He was a little shell-shocked.”
After touring the locker room and receiving gifts from Jardine, Shane was in awe. One of the birthday gifts Jardine gave Shane was a small basketball with a Syracuse logo that the boy has slept with every night.
In the video, Shane said that he didn’t want to pick another favorite player after Jardine leaves. “I don’t want to pick another one,” the boy cried. “I just like Scoop.”
Jardine told Shane that next season, Carter-Williams should be his “new favorite.”
“He’s definitely a big fan,” Barone said. “Even bigger than before.”
Jardine tweeted after the meeting, “I just met that Lil boy that was crying about me graduating and leaving Syracuse. #happybdayshane”.
