It took nothing but Bastille Day for Carla Bruni and husband President Sarkozy to make their big announcement. While it was pretty obvious from her father-in-law’s bean-spilling and baby bump shots, the First Lady officially announced that she’s having a baby! The former model confirms the news with Nice-Matin, saying that the pregnancy was unexpected but welcome. In our own unsteady translation, she described the news as, “upcoming happiness, unexpected and unhoped for.”

So will they paint the room blue or pink? When asked about the gender, she responds, “I don’t even know myself. There are certain things which one should keep secret.”

Congratulations are in order again…but now officially!
