12-Year-Old Sues Parents for Drunk Driving

Girl, 10 Home Alone and Escapes Robbers

October 24, 2012 - By Susan Lim

10-year-old Paityn Mock from Camas, Washington was home alone when burglars broke into her home.

Paityn was home sick last October 16 when the intruders cut a window screen to enter the home.

The girl heard the noise, hid in the pantry, and dialed 911. “I’m at my house, my mom’s at the grocery store and someone got into my house,” Paityn explained.

Following the directions of the dispatcher, Paityn found a way out of the home. “Just keep trying to hide. You’re doing good, OK?” the dispatcher added.

“I didn’t really care at that moment cause I was just trying to get out of the house as quickly as I could,” Paityn recalled.

After 10 minutes of hiding behind the bush, Paityn heard her mom return from the grocery store. “Mommy! Mommy! No! Don’t go in there,” the girl shouted on the call. “My mom went inside.”

Luckily, police arrived at the nick of time and were able to arrest one of the robbers.

“Paityn, you did a very good job,” the dispatcher said at the end of the call. “You were very strong and did a very good job.”
