Girl Offers Brother for Sale on Craigslist
A girl from Alabama decided to pull a prank on her little brother and sell him on Craigslist.
“12-year-old joyful little boy (real) needing a good home, and caring people to be around,” the ad read, stating a sale price of $1,200.
Unfortunately, while it was a legitimate prank, not everyone was amused.
After a Craigslist user happened upon the ad while looking for antiques, he immediately alerted police. Investigators were alarmed, as they thought the ad was real.
Officials finally reached out to the public to help identify the boy, and finally got a breakthrough a week later.
Needless to say, they were less amused after they found out that this was all a prank and the perpetrator was the 12-year-old’s sister, who was also a minor.
“Kids and parents need to realize is when you do something like this, you can lure the wrong kind of person, and you’re endangering the child by putting their image out there,” police officer Mike Holt said in a statement.
The girl and her brother will not receive any charges.
