Homework Left in Crime Scene
A burglary suspect thought he left the crime scene without a trace, but a USB drive with his homework pointed detectives right to him.
A 75-year-old man and his wife reported a home burglary early Saturday morning. The husband noticed a light in his office and found 18-year-old Dallas Naljahih rummaging through his desk.
When Naljahih realized that he was caught, he punched the homeowner and ran away. Unfortunately, in his rush, he left his backpack which in turn contained a USB drive with his homework and personal information.
“A lot of times when people are committing crimes and are caught in the middle of it, the first instinct is to run,” a police officer explained. “And they forget things.”
When police went to Naljahih’s home, the teen was passed out and intoxicated. The stolen camera from the home was also in his possession.
The teen is now booked on several charges, including burglary, theft, assault, illegal consumption by a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is on a $10,000 bail.
