Kris Allen decided to make two huge announcements over the new year: he got into a bad car accident AND he is going to be a dad!

The musician who was involved in a head-on collision Tuesday evening announced that he and wife Katy are expecting.

“Thank you Ford for equipping me with a car that kept my whole family [wife Katy and French bulldog Zorro] and the little one we have on the way safe,” Allen tweeted to his fans. “Yes I got in a really bad wreck tonight and yes I’m having a lil baby. #gonnabeadaddy”

While his Out Alive tour will still go on, the musician may not be able to play the guitar after his wrist surgery.

This is the first baby for the couple. Congratulations!
