Miranda Kerr: Baby Flynn was Named After Ex-Boyfriend
Miranda Kerr seems to have it all! In a recent interview with InStyle Australia, the Victoria Secret model talks about her life as a mom.
Since Flynn’s birth, Miranda has been re-prioritizing her life. “I was working 18-hour days. Now the pace has slowed so I can spend the majority of my time with Flynn. We have a bath together every night. I am first a wife and a mother. When I work, it needs to be the best decision for us as a family.”
While work has been really busy, Miranda and hubby Orlando Bloom has been doing a good job with the balancing act, “It’s whoever has their hands free. When I’m not working we don’t have a nanny. Some nights we have a lady who comes in to help out but Flynn is getting better at sleeping now, so not as often. And if I need to get on a plane for one day of work, I pump my milk and put it into the freezer for Orlando.”
However, her path to motherhood was not as easy as it looked. The model mom opted for a natural childbirth and had her beautiful baby without the use of drugs. “I’ve never been through so much pain, but I was totally present the entire time, focusing on my breath and meditating. I kept thinking, how do women do this? But if other women have done this, I can do it, too. I was determined. I actually thought I was going to die at one point and left my body. I felt as if I was looking down on myself – the pain was so intense. Then he came out and we met, and it was the best thing. I think once you go through something like that, nothing else fazes you – it puts everything into perspective.”
Despite her successful modeling career, Miranda didn’t feel pressured to go back into modeling after motherhood, “He’s a big baby, 4.5 kilograms at birth, and I thought to myself, ‘I have so much more that I want to do aside from modeling. I can live with my body not being in shape if I have a healthy son. It’s worth it.’”
When asked about Flynn’s middle name, Miranda tells the magazine about her ex-boyfriend Chris. “Chris’ death taught me that the people who touch your life are always with you. It taught me that I have the choice to be grateful for the time I had with him instead of dwelling on losing him. Chris and I had been dating for two years. After he died, I wrote him a letter that said I hoped to name my first child after him in some way”
So what’s next for the all-star family? Miranda hints that they may move back to her home turf in Australia. “Flynn would love it, and I had such a wonderful childhood in the country,” she says. “He is going to have a diverse upbringing.”
