Mom Paula Papen recently posted a Youtube video of a joke that she pulled on her 8-year-old son.

Papen let her little boy believe that he just bought a $50,000 Mustang off eBay. Because of his mistake, she added that the family would now need to give up everthing they owned. The boy was clearly distraught from the very beginning, prompting some commenters to call the mom cruel and abusive.

“Anyone who knows us knows that we are a silly family who laughs WITH and yes, sometimes, even AT each other!” Papen later wrote in response to her critics.
