Jacob and Sophia top the list for the most popular baby names for 2011.

The name Jacob comes to no surprise, being one of the top names for the past 13 years (possibly fueled by the recent Twilight saga). However, there have been a few celebrity-influenced surprises.

Kourtney Kardashian’s Mason has a moniker that crept up to the amazing number 2 spot on the boy’s list. Moreover, two of the fastest rising name for girls are Briella, from Briella Calafiore who stars in reality show “Jerseylicious” and Harper from David and Victoria Beckham’s daughter.

“It shows what we’re paying attention to, what we’re thinking about,” Laura Wattenberg from babynamewizard.com explained. “Today, you can’t walk through a supermarket without learning more than you hoped to know about the Kardashian family. That’s just reality.”

“Celebrity naming is just about the exposure, and about everybody hearing that name at the same time,” she also added. “It’s not about the fame, it’s about the name.”

Some names that are surprisingly not getting as much love as before are: Michael which is no longer in the top five and Anthony which has completely dropped off the top ten list.
