Teen Rescues Woman Who Falls Off the Pier While Texting
45-year-old Bonnie Miller couldn’t have imagined that a quick text message would turn into an evening swim.
Miller was taking a stroll when she decided to send a quick text message about an appointment. “I sent about three words … Next thing you know it was the water,” Miller told reporters.
Hearing shouts from Miller’s son, 19-year-old Rebecca Van Zant didn’t think twice before jumping into the river to save the woman.
Interesting enough, Van Zant has always thought of becoming part of the US Coast Guard. “As soon as the Coast Guard got there and I saw the badge on one of the guys I was like, ‘This is what I want to do.’ I would do it every day,” she said.
As for Bonnie Miller, she is OK, other than a being bit embarrassed by the ordeal.
Don’t text and walk, people!
