Teen Shot After Home Invasion Prank Gone Wrong
A 15-year-old boy from Alabama has been shot in a head after pulling a prank on one of his friends.
A group of teens, including Jesse Rainey, 15 were staying at a home without any adult supervision. In an attempt to pull an elaborate practical joke, some of the boys tried to stage a fake home invasion.
“One of the young men cut the lights to the house, then a few of the other guys snuck back inside, wanting their friends to believe there was an intruder,” Sheriff Ronnie May recounts to ABC News.
Unfortunately, as Rainey jumped out of a closet to surprise one of the boys, the latter reacted by grabbing a nearby handgun and shooting Rainey in the head.
Officials were immediately called into the home, and Rainey is currently in critical condition at the Children’s Hospital.
“This was a prank that went terribly wrong,” May added.
No charges will be filed, although investigators found several guns inside the home.
