United Airlines Loses 10-Year-Old Girl

August 16, 2012 - By Susan Lim

Phoebe Klebahn, a 10-year-old girl was temporarily “lost” after she traveled alone on a United Airlines flight.

Parents, Annie and Perry Klebahn accused the airline of losing their daughter and not notifying them after she missed her connecting flight. The young girl was flying alone to her summer camp in Michigan, but unfortunately, missed her connection in Chicago, as no staff member was there to direct her. Her parents were made aware of the snag, only when the camp had called to tell them that their daughter did not arrive.

“When she missed the flight she asked if someone had called camp to make sure they knew and they told her ‘yes—we will take care of it,’” the parents wrote in a letter to United. “No one did. She was sad and scared and no one helped.”

After realizing that their daughter as missing, the airlines took an hour to finally locate the girl. According to the parent’s letter, Phoebe allegedly asked the flight attendants for help, and she was asked to wait for a long period of time. The little girl then asked for a phone to call her parents, when she was again told to wait.

After finding the missing girl, the airlines put her on another flight to Michigan, only to lose her luggage. Needless to say, this little traveler didn’t have a pleasant experience.

“Phoebe “never wants to fly United again,” the angry parents wrote.
