Washing Machine Child’s Mom: I’ll Press Charges
Sakia David was the single mother of the toddler who was tossed in a washing machine in a video that went viral last week.
Unlike the original reports, the couple caught on camera tossing 1-year-old Saimeir Bush into the washing machine were not the boy’s parents. In fact, David just found out about the incident at midnight when she came back home from work and saw it in the news.
David couldn’t identify the man in the video, but knew the woman as the current girlfriend of the boy’s father.
The angry mom is now pressing charges against the boy’s babysitter. “I just want to tell Sandra (the baby sitter) this is not over, because everybody said I wouldn’t be pressing charges and I am,’’ she said. “I left my child in her custody. She sat there and watched him put my baby in the washer, so it’s both of their fault. I don’t care how much you say how much it’s not her fault, it’s her fault too.’’
However, attorneys are advising against any criminal charges, as they believe that David doesn’t have a solid case. “In this case, there is no way to show that there was any criminal intent on the part of these two people,’’ attorney Rikki Klieman explained. “They were stupid, not criminal.’’
So how does the boy father feel? “He was going off,’’ David said. “He said he wants charges filed.’’
In a recent phone interview, the baby sitter said that it was an accident and the man was a family friend. “It’s like it happened so fast,’’ she said. “All I know is I heard the click (of the machine), and I turned around, and I saw it and I panicked, like I didn’t know what to do.
David is taking her son to a hospital for further tests.
