The alias “Derek Bieber” became one of the top trending topics in Twitter yesterday, causing a quite a stir between fans and non-fans alike. As a fan tweeted, “i am in love with a guy named Derek Bieber ♥.” And for the confused non-fan, “The fact that Derek Bieber is trending worldwide, shows how much Beliebers run twitter.”

So who exactly is Derek?

A TMZ reporter was hassling Justin Bieber, trying to confirm rumors that he rejected an autograph request from an American Airlines pilot. Justin denied rumors, but was still bombarded with questions. In good spirits, he responded, “I’m famous? I’m a celebrity? I didn’t even realize.” He then quipped, “My name’s Derek. I don’t even know what you’re talking about.” (Video below)
