Woman Gives Birth to Own Grandson
In an interesting twist of events, 49-year-old Linda Sirois served as a surrogate to her daughter and gave birth to her grandson Madden Hebert on August 13.
25-year-old Angel Hebert had a heart condition that made it extremely risky for her to have a baby. Hebert and her husband Brian were about to give up hope, when Hebert’s mom Siriois volunteered.
“It was pretty disappointing and we were pretty upset about it,” Hebert recalled of the doctor’s prognosis. “But we kind of had an idea that it was a possibility and, all along, my mother was saying, ‘I’m here and I can carry for you.’”
“I called her last summer,” she added. “And I’m like, ‘So, you know that offer…Is that offer still on the table?’”
While a number of fertility clinics rejected Sirois due to her advanced age, the Reproductive Science Center in Massachusetts finally agreed to IVF using Hebert’s fertized egg and her husband’s sperm. And finally, on December 13, Sirois, the mom-of-four learned that she was pregnant with her grandson.
Eight months later, Sirois gave birth via c-section to a healthy 7-pound, 14-ounce baby boy.
“She is amazing,” Hebert gushes about her mother. “I couldn’t have asked for a better mother. It’s such a great and selfless gift she has given us. She brought her grandson into the world and we now have our beautiful baby boy. We are all super excited.”
As for Sirois, she brushes off the experience. “I was just ‘babysitting’ for a short time,” she quips. “I was fortunate and blessed to be a part of this experience and be able to help bring him into the world.”
